Heart of the Oak Runeword (HOTO)

1x Ko Rune, 1x Vex Rune, 1x Pul Rune, 1x Thul Rune and a 4-socket Staff or Mace

It’s often called HOTO and mostly used by casters. It grants you a boost to all skills, a faster cast rate, steals Mana per hit, and grants you an increase of the maximum mana, and more. This runeword is a nice combination with Enigma, as it boosts your skills +3. The skills boost makes it very good for skill-dependent classes, like summoners. HOTO is also very good with casters, like the elemental Druid or the Sorceress, because of the high casting rate bonus. The Heart of the Oak rune word is a little expensive, but very useful for casters (like for example a Fire Sorceress).

How do I socket the HEART OF THE OAK RUNEWORD?

Make sure you have all runes available - 1x Ko Rune, 1x Vex Rune, 1x Pul Rune, 1x Thul Rune - then put them into the sockets of the base item, in the correct order pictured below. Pay extra attention to this. The rune word is 'KoVexPulThul' for a reason, so if you don't socket it in the exact order, the result would not be 'Heart of the Oak' (and instead you would end up with a bunch of runes socketed into the base item).
Take your desired base item, then socket the runes in this exact order:

Farming the Runes

  • Ko can be found by killing The Countess on hell difficulty and in The Hell Forge on nightmare and hell. It can also drop in Act 2 on nightmare difficulty. You can craft it with  3x ‘Lum’ + flawed Amethyst = ‘Ko’ in the Hoardric Cube.
  • Farm Vex from the Countess drops on nightmare or hell and in The Hell Forge also on nightmare and hell. It can also drop in Act 1 on hell difficulty. Transmute 2x ‘Gul’ + normal ruby = ‘Vex’ in the Hoardric Cube to craft it.
  • Pul can be found by killing the Countess on hell only and in The Hell Forge on both, nightmare and hell. You can also search for it in Act 4 on nightmare. Pul can be crafted with 3x ‘Lem’ + flawed Emerald = ‘Pul’ in the Cube.
  • Thul can drop after killing The Countess on nightmare and hell. You can also try it in The Hell Forge, but this time on normal or farm in Act 4 on any difficulty. If you want to craft it, transmute 3x ‘Ort’ in the Horadric Cube.

It's all About the Base

1 and 2 Handed Hammers do not work as a base for the runeword. If you want a one-handed base, use Flails, Knouts, and Scourges. Staves are two-handed. For low Strenght and Dexterity requirements, use the Flail.

A Staff is not recommended as a base, rather use a Flail and a Shield, to get additional bonuses.

Keep in mind, that you need Staves or Maces with exactly 4 Sockets, to create the runeword Heart of the Oak.

Strengths

+3 to All Skills, +40% Faster cast Rate, 7% Mana leech, and All Resistance +30-40. These are all very good bonuses for casters like the Sorceress or summoners.

Weaknesses

There is no weakness worthy to describe.

How much is HEART OF THE OAK worth?

Runewords can have a huge difference in value. In order to find out the worth of the Heart of the Oak Runeword, we need to add up the value of the single runes, as well as the base item used for socketing. Every roll will require these basic ingredients and will get you the Heart of the Oak Runeword with random stats. This can be defined as the minimum value. The higher the stats of the roll, the higher the final value of the runeword. A "perfect roll" in a superior base tends to be the most rare and hence much more expensive than a random roll.

Can I buy the HEART OF THE OAK Runeword in D2R?

Yes, we can offer the already rolled Heart of the Oak Runeword for you in different bases listed below.
